Eibsee - Grainau
The Eibsee is located directly at the foot of the Zugspitze and is considered one of the most beautiful and cleanest lakes in the Bavarian Alps. The different shades of blue of the clear water, which you can best see when you take the Eibsee cable car up to the Zugspitze, resemble the sight of Caribbean waters.
The Eibsee has 8 islands and was formed by a huge landslide from the northern flank of the Zugspitze almost 4000 years ago.
Numerous picturesque bays and idyllic outdoor swimming areas invite you to relax or swim. Enjoy the breathtaking view of the Zugspitze massif, which is reflected in the crystal clear water when the weather is good.
For more fun, a motorboat tour with the "Reserl" is available. At the boat rental you can rent a rowing or pedal boat and explore the lake on your own.
The Eibsee-Hotel and the Seerestaurant Eibsee-Pavillion are located directly on the lake. Here you should definitely try a freshly caught fish.

Summer activities
Walking, running and Nordic walking
on the 7.2 km long circular trail with the most beautiful view of the Zugspitze. It is considered one of the most beautiful walking paths in Bavaria.
Hiking
on many well-marked hiking trails in various degrees of difficulty. One of the famous ascents to the Zugspitze summit also starts at Eibsee. You can find all tours in our tour portal.
Mountain biking
On various forest and meadow paths up to the Eibsee or starting from the lake
e.g. to the fantastically situated Hochthörle hut and further on to Ehrwald. You will find bike tours around the Eibsee in our Tour portal.
Fishing & Diving
As the lake is privately owned by the Eibsee-Hotel, fishing & diving is only possible in combination with an overnight stay at the Eibsee-Hotel and with a licence, which you can get at the hotel reception.
Diving season: only possible in winter due to the motor boat traffic in the summer months.
Fishing season: Beginning of May until end of September. Please note the fishing regulations:

Boat rental
There is a boat rental service on the shore, which is open from May to mid-September.

Winter Hiking
On the cleared 7.2 km long Eibsee circular trail or from Grainau on one of the beautiful cleared winter hiking trails to Eibsee
Skiing & Snowboarding
...on the Zugspitze - the highest mountain in Germany and the Tiroler Zugspitz Arena.
For guests of the Eibsee-Hotel the use of the Eibsee-Lift is free of charge.
Ski-& Snowboard rental station and winter sports shop you find directly at the valley station of the Eibsee cable car.
