360° panorama and a boundless sense of freedom

CURRENT INFORMATION: to the current regulations & opening hours can be found on the websites www.zugspitze.at & www.zugspitze.de.

It doesn't really matter how you scale the summit of the Zugspitze. Whether by one of the mountain cableways or via one of the four famous alpine climbs, regardless of whether you start out in Bavaria or Tyrol - from up here, you can look out on a boundlessly beautiful and versatile holiday destination: The Zugspitz Arena Bavaria - Tyrol.

The air up here is clear and a little thinner at an altitude of almost 3,000 m. The weather is more extreme, the sun is stronger and the snow is higher than in the valley. Enjoy the breath-taking views of four countries and over 400 summits and feel the distance from everyday life.

The Zugspitze - the highest mountain in Germany and Zugspitz Arena Bavaria - Tyrol - offers historical and culinary highlights as well as numerous alpine challenges:

  • The ski area on the glacier with natural snow, 16.8 km of groomed slopes and pristine deep snow slopes for as far as the eye can see
  • Snowshoe hiking on your own or guided discovery tours
  • Overnight stay at the Igloo Village in the middle of the skiing area

MapThe Zugspitze on foot:

  • from Garmisch-Partenkirchen via the Rein Valley and the Knorr Hut (overnight stay recommended)
  • from Grainau via the Höllentalklamm gorge (most demanding tour - only for experieced)
  • from Grainau via lake Eibsee / or from Ehrwald -Obermoos  - via Wiener-Neustädter-Hut and the Stopselzieher (fixed rope route called "corkscrew")
