Mobile guest card for the Zugspitz Arena Bavaria-Tyrol

The new key to many holiday experiences around the Zugspitze: the new digital guest card is available in time for the summer season.

It goes online on 1 April: The mobile guest card for the cross-border Zugspitz Arena Bavaria-Tyrol. Guests can download the card with QR code directly onto their smartphone - even a week before arrival. Check-in will also be quicker in future. Those who like can combine the new guest card with the digital holiday advisor "Loisl" and will always have the concentrated holiday pleasure with them in future. www.zugspitze.com

"With the digitalisation, we are responding to the increasing request of hosts and guests to make the card available in a digital version," explains Petra Fraune, Chairwoman of the Board of the Zugspitz Arena Bavaria-Tyrol Association. In future, landlords will be able to simply send the guest card by email so that guests can use public transport in the region on the day they arrive. And check in online in advance, which saves time on arrival. As well as costs and resources: with up to one million arrivals per year in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, the Zugspitz village of Grainau and the Tyrolean Zugspitz Arena, this can mean up to 5,000 kg less paper. That makes a reduction of up to 5,000 kg of CO² emissions per year. However, the printed version will remain for the time being, as digitisation will take place step by step.

The digital guest card is the further development of the joint cross-border Zugspitz Arena Bavaria-Tyrol CARD, which was created in 2019 as part of the Interreg Austria-Bavaria programme. It opens up holiday experiences in the three destinations around the Zugspitze, the Tyrolean Zugspitz Arena, Garmisch-Partenkirchen and the Zugspitz village of Grainau. With it, holidaymakers can take part in guided hiking and biking tours at reduced or free rates and enjoy free rides on the Bavaria-Tyrol guest bus. Discounts for tennis, golf and many other leisure facilities are also included.

If the guest installs the personal digital holiday companion Loisl on his smartphone, which enhances the holiday with individual tips, the digital guest card is automatically integrated into it and is also available in offline mode. This is practical if you are travelling in a corner of the region where no mobile network is available. And so you always have your guest card with you automatically.
