Dr. Univ. Prof. H. Ritter von Srbik (1878-1951) was one of the most recognised historians in the German-speaking world
Prof. Dr. Ritter v. Srbik was President of the Vienna Academy of Sciences and 1929/30 Austrian Minister of Education. He has special significance for Ehrwald through his treatise on the "Rodordnung des Außerferner Gebietes" and the transport of salt over the Fernpass. He spent his holidays and retirement in Ehrwald. He is buried in his family grave in the Ehrwald cemetery.
