The Heiterwanger See together with the Plansee forms the second largest water area in Tyrol.
The Heiterwanger See is located directly at the gateway to the Tyrolean Zugspitz Arena, in the community of the same name, Heiterwang.
The Plansee is connected with the Heiterwanger See by a 300 meter long canal and belongs to the municipality of Reutte.
