GRENZENLOS MAGAZINE SUMMER 2024

From newly opened shops to sporting adventures and new event formats: Exciting highlights await you again this summer in the Zugspitz Arena Bavaria-Tyrol. What's on offer? Find out in the new GRENZENLOS magazine!

The GRENZENLOS magazine brings together stories of people who make the region something very special through their actions. The three destinations of the Zugspitz Arena Bavaria-Tyrol - Tiroler Zugspitz Arena, the Zugspitz village of Grainau and Garmisch-Partenkirchen - each have their own flair. So you decide where your journey will take you. But one thing is definitely guaranteed: Exciting and varied experiences await you. For example, explore the Tiroler Zugspitz Arena on your bike. Not only many cosy valley routes await you there, but also panoramic and challenging single trails. That's not enough for you? The 112-kilometre Zugspitz-8 bike tour is a real challenge, giving you an insight into both the German and Austrian sides of our beautiful region.

Let's go!

Would you prefer to enjoy your stay in peace and quiet? Then a themed hike with Grainau tour guide Zsofia Liebsch will inspire you. She knows every corner of the village and knows what is good for body and soul. This also applies to herbalist Lisl Strakeljahn from Garmisch-Partenkirchen. On her herb walks, she uses local flowers and leaves to create a feeling of slowing down. Or you can venture up the entire Zugspitze on one of four trails. However, there are important aspects to bear in mind, as you can read in our new issue of GRENZENLOS.

Pure nature in the new GRENZENLOS

Nowhere is a holiday more beautiful than in the middle of blooming meadows! In the tranquil village of Mitteregg, these are brought into shape twice a year, because then it's time for haymaking. This allows the species-rich flora and fauna to flourish again. Human help is also needed in the animal world, as inn owner Robert Hörbst knows. As a hunter, he ensures a balanced population of game - and feeds his hungry guests with the prey. Find out what is important when hunting in the GRENZENLOS magazine. Not only can you experience nature up close, but you can also make it the centre of a discussion: At the Alpine Climate Summit on Germany's highest mountain in 2024, experts will once again be discussing climate change and sustainability.

A journey through time

Did you know that the Höllental valley and the Höllentalklamm gorge have undergone rapid development to become the tourist hotspot in the Zugspitz village of Grainau? There used to be a mine there, which played a decisive role in the First World War. Take a look at our magazine to find out which one it is. The new adventure trails in the Tiroler Zugspitz Arena go back even further, allowing families to follow in the footsteps of the Romans, for example.

The fact that the Zugspitz Arena Bayern-Tirol is not just reflecting on the past, but is constantly changing, can be seen once again this year: the Wankhaus boasts a new tenant and a fresh concept, the Michael-Ende-Kurpark in Garmisch-Partenkirchen is being remodelled and the "Music in the Park" event is being relaunched with brand new ideas under the name "GaPa Live". What exactly are the changes? Find out in the new GRENZENLOS magazine.

A culinary highlight

After so much variety and action, it's no wonder that your stomach growls with hunger in between. Hatem Ibn Said's café "DER LADEN" in Garmisch-Partenkirchen provides a remedy. Here, he has not only created a place for good conversation, but also impresses guests with lovingly prepared dishes and high-quality coffees. The "Klein aber fein" gourmet shop in the Zugspitz village of Grainau is no less lovingly run. Anton Sprenger and his team spoil you with local quality products and heavenly snacks.
