Historical Bobsleigh run

It lies in the shadow of the forest above Lake Riessersee: once the most dangerous bobsled run in the world. Courageous athletes race down the winding track into the valley at speeds of up to 120 kilometers per hour. In 1936, the natural ice track was the venue for the Winter Olympics. Until 1966, Bavarian and German championships as well as European and world championships were regularly held there. Formerly the heart of bobsledding, the track, which has been a listed building since 1973, is now a popular Garmisch-Partenkirchen excursion destination.

The hiking trail leads from Riessersee along the former bobsleigh track on paths steeped in history. About 350 meters before the finish line is the Bob Museum. 17 historic bobs and numerous exhibits recall former heroes and their sometimes tragic stories. Original film footage revives the atmosphere of past sporting events.
