Catholic church

On the hill near the village the Obergrainauer built the first chapel in 1797 and consecrated it to St. John the Baptist. This "germ cell" of today's church was extended and renewed several times. Inside it was given a baroque design. Its exterior appearance as a church on the mountain, surrounded by the pretty cemetery with the mountains as background, is the most photographed motif of Grainau.
